In the end, all 32 students have succumbed to death due to the apocalyptic virus known as. As the only surviving classmate, Riona drags Nobuaki's corpse to the beach and implicitly commits suicide by drowning herself along with Nobuaki's dead body. With Natsuko seemingly dead, Riona begins declaring her love for Nobuaki but using the last of her breath, Natsuko kills Nobuaki with the chainsaw, claiming she loved Nobuaki first and refusing to let Riona take him. Natsuko tries to kill Nobuaki by strangling him for confirming her suspicions of him giving everyone false hope, but Riona attacks Natsuko with the chainsaw and fatally wounds her. Even offering up all of their lives to end the game wouldn't matter because it will get the same result. They combine the one-letter texts from the dead classmates and finally discover the truth about the King's Game: It is, in fact, an apocalyptic virus-type of game that would never end until all of humanity is destroyed.

With only Nobuaki, Riona, and Natsuko remaining, they finally calm down to brainstorm how to end the game once and for all. Seeing Ryou dead, Aya tries to strangle Natsuko but Natsuko just cuts her body off with her chainsaw. Ryou offers to sacrifice first so Natsuko helps him cut his leg using a chainsaw. Why were some people spared? Why were others killed? The manga was not specific, and to me, didn't manage to cover many things in terms of explanation. The gang overpowers Natsuko and reach the summit, just as they get their next order to cut their body parts to make a human doll. The messages too, hinted that it was a human behind all the killings. 'That' meaning necks turning 180 degrees and limbs shooting off. I doubt hypnotism can actually cause that. Throughout the entire manga, people's necks were twisted, limbs went akimbo before shooting off, killed their friends, and for some reason, spontaneous human combustion occurred (spontaneous human combustion has never actually been proven why it happens, from what I know). The summing up of the virus, however, was what irked me the most. It was a hypnotic virus.' and what the main did in the end was go back into the past/ revive his girlfriend. The ending was very unfufilling for two reasons: the entireee story was summed up with 'the killer is everyone, but no one. But the messages, they seemed to be mocking/having fun. It dropped pretty quickly within what, 5 chapters? Very filler like, if you ask me. During the manga, though, there was this HUGE slasher filler. Honestly I wished pretty early on Chieme was the killer. I disagree with the other reviewers who posted about the ending. The teacher is never in the classroom, and the kids have no concern about their parents or siblings at any stage, only the relationships they have with their classmates. The police have no interest in investigating the King's Game even though all the kids die in exactly the same way as the messages they receive, because that makes sense. There are also the adults, who rarely appear.

Each one is portrayed as either a horrible person or a saint who's happy to sacrifice themselves for their friend(s), plus one sociopath who dies a horrible death with no apparent pain (but may be the least cringeworthy character nonetheless). How did the virus magically know what they were doing? Why would the 'letters spelling out a secret message' ever be a thing? Why and how did the virus write a note about being in the classroom? Is the virus an artificial intelligence? Why did I not check the rating for this manga before reading it?īesides the unbelievable plot, the characters are awful.
